Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Research Analyst to join our Hong Kong-based research team. The successful candidate will produce actionable equity and/or macro research, help build investment theses, and support trading and sales teams with timely market intelligence. This role requires strong analytical skills, clear written and verbal communication, and strict adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fundamental and/or quantitative research on equities, sectors, and macroeconomic themes relevant to Hong Kong, Greater China and regional markets.
  • Build financial models, valuations (DCF, relative valuation), earnings estimates, and scenario analyses.
  • Produce clear, concise, and well-structured research reports, company notes, and thematic pieces for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Monitor market developments, news flow, corporate filings, and economic data; provide timely trade ideas and risk assessments.
  • Present research findings to internal teams (trading, sales, portfolio managers) and, where appropriate, at client meetings or webinars.
  • Collaborate with the trading desk to translate research into actionable ideas and support trade execution when needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure all research communications comply with SFC rules and company policies.
  • Liaise with corporate access and investor relations to arrange meetings, calls, and site visits with company management.
  • Assist in the enhancement of research processes, data tools, and databases to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Mathematics, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or CFA/FRM is a plus.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills; proven experience building DCF, comparable company analysis, and earnings models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin). Ability to produce professional research notes in English and Chinese.
  • Proficiency with financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv/Eikon) and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Python/R or SQL is an advantage.
  • Attention to detail, high ethical standards, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong commercial awareness, curiosity, and ability to generate original investment ideas.
